Memorial Day Picnic

So, as mentioned in the last post,
we had very iffy weather for our Memorial Day
picnic,
Above is our friend, Jared Bradford, dressed for the cold.
I know I should listen to Paul,
put this is such a tradition for me.
The past week rain was forecast for Monday.
Every day I checked the weather and kept hoping.
Monday was a cold day in Riverton, high temp of 50 degrees.
The kids and I had our fingers crossed all day.
Our friend, Kelly, above right, called at 4pm to say,
"I guess you canceled the picnic"
"Of course not, it is sunny"
So Kelly said we will be over about 4:30.
5 minutes later it was raining again.
When the Bradford's came, they were all dressed
for the cold. Kelly never took her hat off!
The sun did come out for good, the temp was not
so bad, we had a fun time.
Thanks to all of our friends and family who
came!!!
Let's hope the 4th of July is hot.

Spjute Kids Sleepover

Sunday night Becca and Troy
went to a B&B.
We got the kids!!!
Dinner was Tacos.
Then the girls watched a movie
in their bedroom.
The boys watched one in the theater room.
Saturday morning we had applesauce pancakes and waffles for
breakfast. Caleb really liked the blueberry syrup and the
boysenberry syrup
Then off to Planet Play.
We had lots of fun;
bumper cars, go cart racing,( Grammy and Jewelia won)
mini golf.
Then home to get ready for the picnic.
The weather was not being very
co-operative. At 2pm we had a thunder storm
with hail. Then sun, rain, sun, rain.
The sun finally came out for good, we
had chilly, but fun picnic

Busy Saturday!

Today was very busy for us!
Kade and Addi came at 9:30am
They helped me cut the lawn,
then they had to retrieve Maggie's balls from the
pool cover.
That lead to sweeping the water on top of the
cover to the sump pump. This lead to scrubbing
the pool cover, then to getting the yucky leaves out of the
cover box. Onto helping Grandpop with the
pool filter, skimming the bugs and yucky stuff
out of the pool, helping Grandpop put
chemicals in the pool. Finally the kids helped
Grandpop find hornest nests to spray.
Kade earned 13 nickels, Addi 12.

Then we met Micah, Caleb and Jewelia at
the book fair so they could all pick out
books. This is way Grammy works the
book fair twice each year.

After all the work the kids did we went to Planet
Play for pizza buffet. YUM! Kade had
dessert oreo pizza.

They played mini golf, bowling and climbed
in the kids jungle gym.

Then off to Aunt Becca and Uncle Troy's
church for a Ward play.
Becca had told us it was a corny play,
she was telling the truth! But it was fun,
they had tables set up with bowls of popcorn & pitchers of punch.
We also bought yummy baked goods from the Young Women.
The whole Spjute family was in the play!!!!
It was fun to see Aunt Becca being mean to the "white people", Uncle Troy
singing, and the kids being "natives" with spears. A good time was had by all!!!

Kade's Kindergarten Promotion

We went to Kade's Kindergarten Promotion Tueday night.
He did so well!
Paul and I were so impressed with all
that he has learned this year
Wow, in the 50 years since I was in
kindergarten things have really
progressed
He knows 50 sight words, can count to 100,
knows the difference between nouns, pronouns,
verbs and adjectives .
In first grade I was learning to read "Dick and Jane" from the
BIG Book!
