Another Saturday with Kade and Addi

Kade and Addi stayed overnight again
They were so good about letting Grandpop and I sleep in.
They just played in their room until I got up.
We had waffles for breakfast,
then we suited up and went sledding
at our park.
We were the first people there, the snow was
wet, so we had to smash it down with the first
few runs.
Then more friends from out neighborhood came
and they had a grand old time!

After sledding we all went to the
"Safe Kids" fair at the
Southtowne Expo Center.
They got their faces painted,
got lots of free stuff,
including neat backpacks.
We saw Iron Man too!!!!
A good time was had by all.

Kade and Addi's weekend with Grammy

I got to spend Saturday and Sunday with
Kade and Addi
After they both went to separate

birthday parties,
a visit to Uncle and Jackie's
we made it back to Riverton to make
a batch of Natalie's famous
soft pretzels.

here is the recipe

SOFT PRETZELS

Dough
2 1/2 C flour
3/4 t salt
1 t sugar
2 1/4 t INSTANT OR RAPID RISE yeast ( 1 package)
1 C warm water

Topping
3/4 C warm water
2 T baking soda
coarse salt ( used regular and they were still good)
or you could use cinnamon and sugar
3-4 T melted butter

1. Place all of the dough ingredients into a mixing bowl. ( No need to bloom the yeast,
just add it all in) Mix until all ingredients are combined. Knead the dough
( using a hook) for about 5 min. After this time you should have a nice smooth and soft dough.

2. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and let sit for 30 min.

3. Preheat oven to 500 degrees. Spray cookie sheets with non-stick spray.

4. Spray your large cutting board with the non-stick spray, trans fer dough to cutting
board. Using a sharp knife, cut the dough in half, then each half into 4 equal pieces. Let dough rest while you prepare the topping.

5. In a small shallow dish, combine the warm water and baking soda. Mix until the soda is dissolved.

6. Using your hands, roll each dough into a long rope ( about 2 ft long), then twist into shape.
Dip the pretzel into the soda water and then place on the pan. Sprinkle lightly with salt, or cinnamon and sugar. Let sit on pans, uncovered for 10-15 minutes.

7. Bake the pretzels for 7 min. I bake 4 pretzels per pan.
Remove the pretzels from the oven and immediately brush them with melted butter. Use all the butter. Remove to wire rack.

8. BEST EATEN WARM OUT OF THE OVEN. CAN BE REHEATED.

P.S. Addi said that her mom's were better!

Above picture of Addi with her
hair in sponge curlers and
curler cap on.
Now she is the third generation to
go to bed on Saturday night in curlers
so she can have pretty curls for
church on Sunday.
